Review of The Act of Killing (2012) by Derek O — 11 Feb 2014
While it doesn't have much to say in way of historical context, what makes this an essential documentary and possibly the best film of 2013 is what it has to say about the power of film itself. Not just that it has the power to inspire unspeakable crimes against humanity.
But also that it has the power to inspire those very criminals to realize the gravity of their actions.
