Review of The Abyss (1989) by Laramie R — 25 Feb 2010
It's interesting to look back on this movie after Titanic and Avatar. So much of this movie was in the others - minus the odd dialouge. I don't know maybe back then the phrases were HIP but, today it's more to evoke scoffs and flushing like when one hears a bad joke.
Other than that, this movie kept the thrills and spills, never veering from the action and suspense, and even tied in extraterrestrial life into the plot quite nicely. And, for a movie made back then, the effects were really good.
In the end I really like this movie. I did, however, find Michael Biehn's mustache very iritating...
