Perhaps one of the more overlooked films in Cameron's post 'Terminator' oeuvre, this film remains characteristically breathtaking at almost every turn.
It would have been easy for this film to have drowned in the huge budget, sprawling script, and innovative effects, but Cameron, ever the master of controlling everything at his disposal, never forgets about his actors. Even with all the flashy special effects and fantastic underwater staging, the real show stopper is when one of the leads drowns only to have another one attempt to revive them.
