Review of The Abyss (1989) by Traci B — 15 Mar 2010
This is the one James Cameron movie that most people have probably never seen, but may have heard of. Cameron delivers typical action fare making any setting that he so chooses to use an exciting and action packed one, this time, underwater being that back drop.
Though nearing 3 hours, Cameron provides such an exciting script, likable characters and intense situations that it doesn't feel nearly that long and though it tip toes towards a heavy handed message, it doesn't take away from a solid cast who works well with an extra terrestrial twist that provides a more than entertaining cinematic fare.
The ultimate result: a greatly underrated film and a classic for Cameron fanatics.
