Review of The Abyss (1989) by Nilufer R — 01 Jul 2009
A great science fiction movie, and probably one of James Cameron's best. Nothing about this movie falls short of good, most of it is great, and it leaves you with a sense of wonder that lingers long after the credits role.
The cinematography, acting, story and pacing are solid, enough to keep you interested from start to finish. It my attempt to sound smart, I would call it 'a gripping masterpiece of film and imagination'. If movies today were made with half the care of this one, well, I'd probably go to the theater more often.
I could go on forever, but honestly, you just have to see it for yourself.
