Review of The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971) by David S — 08 Jan 2008
Camp horror classic which is ripe for rediscovery.
Price uses a Neat trick in using the Curse of the Pharohs to dispatch the doctors who failed to save his wife.
All the time he is pusued By Peter Jeffery as the sardonic and very funny Inspector Trout.
Price has a field day here as The doctor who has to use a Phonograph plugged into his neck to talk and who loves nothing better than a waltz with his Clockwork Wizards Playing along.
The production design By Brian Eatwell and the nasty deaths make this film a whole lot of fun .
One Of AIP 'S finest pictures lets hope no one decides to remake it.
