Review of The 5th Wave (2016) by Cine1 — 29 Dec 2016
This movie takes the end of the world scenario and tries to fit too much into its runtime: aliens masquerading as humans, child soldiers, and Chloe Grace Moretz journeying across a forest and finding an intergalactic romance as she tries to track down her missing brother who is being turned into a child soldier to battle the aliens.
The film is all over the place and the direction is lifeless, creating an artificiality to an already fantastic scenario. The actors are really working, but it doesn't much matter when all sense of reality has petered out in the first few minutes.
