Review of The 5th Wave (2016) by Dukejon — 16 Mar 2023
Starts off promisingly enough, as an end-of-the-world gritty survival drama. But half way through it turns into a teen romance. The plot doesn't seem very plausible; why would the all powerful aliens do 99% of the work in killing off the human race then just train up a bunch of children to finish off their dirty work for them? How did Evan plant so many bombs he blew up a base without anyone noticing? The ending offered no closure as it's the end of a first part of a series that will never be continued.
The best part of this movie is Chloë Grace Moretz. She puts in a captivating performance as the lead.
