Not a horrible movie. The 39 Steps is supposed to be a prime example of the genious of Hitchcock's early work. The story is entertaining given the context, as audiences of that time had not been exposed to such cinematic intrigue and plot twists up until that point.
Not a blockbuster, but an entertaining lazy mid-day movie.
