Review of The 39 Steps (1935) by Chloe S — 21 Jul 2007
A harbinger of the greater Hitchcock works which followed, 39 Steps contains all the ingredients for a great mystery: a dashing man falsely accused of murder, a beautiful girl, and plenty of the macabre humor so characteristic of the Master of Suspense.
The movie is lively and innovative for its time, but modern viewers may find some of the technical problems annoying.
