Review of The 39 Steps (1935) by Ken S — 02 Sep 2014
One of Alfred Hitchcock's best films prior to his move from England to Hollywood, this one features an innocent man who ends up on the run after a chance meeting with a spy who ends up dead in his apartment.
It is a solid thriller with a good pace (for it's day) and a decent leading man holding it all together. Hitchcock really figured out what kind of a filmmaker he was, and where his talents lied around this time with this film and "The Man Who Knew Too Much", and he was best when it came to suspense.
