Review of The 300 Spartans (1962) by Jesus E — 10 Apr 2008
The movie that inspired a young Frank Miller to ultimately write the 300 graphic novel. Not as over-the-top or visually spectacular as 300, but still tells the story. What it lacks in fancy special effects and female fanservice, it makes up with beautiful scenery (filming was done near where the actual battle took place), more about the relationships between the characters, and lots and lots of extras.
As with most action movies of that period, very little blood and gore considering the amount of fighting that took place.
