Review of The 300 Spartans (1962) by Martin S — 26 Jan 2014
Before "300" there was "The 300 Spartans," a historical sword-and-sandal epic of the kind that I wish Hollywood still made. Richard Egan fills the boots of heroic King Leonidas, but David Farrar plays a cookie-cutter villain instead of the God-King that Xerxes was.
It's a heavy-handed Cold War allegory that denounces pacifism, but it's entertaining nonetheless.
