Watching Richard Egan 'act' alongside Ralph Richardson is, I suppose, a little like watching the Cheeky Girls perform a sonata with Brahms. Worrying, but strangely compelling... Although Egan brings a whole new dimension to the adjective 'laconic', his colleagues fare little better, and one can occasionally tell that the studio was also a little busy with a film about some Egyptian bint, THE 300 SPARTANS is a fun and colourful addition to the historical epics of the period.
It bounces along merrily and acquits itself fairly well within its own genre.
