Review of The 13th Warrior (1999) by Kelly H — 16 Jan 2009

I tend to be a fan of Crichton's earlier works, including the book this movie was based on, Eaters of the Dead. That said, while the movie wasn't bad - and in particular was very clever in showing language learning, as well as the cosmopolitan nature of the Muslim empire at the time - I found that the storyline ditched much of the creepier horror aspects of the book, leaving the villains somewhat unsatisfying (and unthreatening).
