Review of Testament of Youth (2015) by Leena L — 30 Aug 2015
Espoo Cine 2015- 5/10.
Had no idea who Vera Brittain was. Based on a real story, period piece, war time England, Alicia Vikander. Those were the reasons for selection. And good reasons they were. Enjoyed the film. Made me cry, but also made me wonder why her life in oxford did not receicve more time in the over 2 hours lenght. She fought for it in the time when studying was unusual activity for women. In any case, the film could have been slghtly shorter. But now I know that Vera Brittain was a leading pacifist and an award winning author, all because of her own experiences in WWI.
TO NOTE: why make fiction, real life is always stranger than you can imagine.
