Review of Terms of Endearment (1983) by Lord N — 05 May 2010
It is obviously an Oscar bait film, powerhouse stars and performances to match, a total tearjerker, yeah Oscar bait for sure. but, the Oscars took the bait and this film walked of with Picture, Director, Actress and Supporting Actor.
not bad at all. I think that this is one of Shirley McLaine's best films (She also did great in the 1960 winner The Apartment). Jack Nicholson is well...Jack Nicholson. It seems the guy can do no wrong (although I'm sure he has).
as he won his second of three Oscars for this one (the only one that wasn't a Best Actor win). The performances were great, the movie was amazing, and I just had a great time watching it all around.
It is intended to be a tearjerker (it didn't work for me as there are only 2 movies in the world that can make me cry). Final Verdict: good for now. I saw The Right Stuff and felt that this one beat that one.
I still need to see Tender Mercies before I can say whether or not this one deserved the win.
