Review of Terminator Salvation (2009) by Tyler R — 21 Sep 2012
The "Terminator" franchise is a classic one, spanning three build up movies that culminated to the end of the human race at the end of the third film. "Terminator: Salvation" follows the story of John Connor as he tries to turn the favors in the odds of The Resistance, while telling the parallel stoey of a mysterious character of Marcus.
This is the most realistic film out of the series, progressing without any laser blasters on either side or any mention of time travel. The absence of time travel is the one thing that tripped this film up, because John Connor does find Kyle Reese, who is obviously sent back in time to become the father of John Connor.
Another issue is the character of Marcus. The film spends a majority of the time on him and his twist, despite the fact that this should be a John Connor-centric film. Besides those issues, it is still a worthy sequel that packs pretty good acting, and incredible visual effects, especially in the form of a surprise cameo at the end.
The movie moves at a constant pace, stumbling only when gets heavy on the story of Marcus. It is still a fun film, and definitely worth a look if you like the series.
