Review of Terminator Salvation (2009) by Phillie E — 09 Jan 2015
Stunned by this movie. I expected it to be terrible but it turned out to be absolutely stunning. Like nothing you have ever seen!!!! It has an effective and somber feel to it that is very strange and queer.
It has zero violence, and has a lot of scary characters with some pretty intense and bizarre action with lots of scare, tension, some Snyder style thrills, and just a basic sense of decent storytelling that was shocking and intense to watch in 2009, but kind of grows on you over time and is just an unreal movie for me.
I thought it was the perfect kind of out of touch movie the kind that resonates with me whilst watching movies, the little clicking sounds of realizing six months later that a movie is good or stopping and starting a movie that is supposed to be blurry but instead turns out to be ultra-sharp.
Kind of scary and weird, it's the eureka movies and eureka moments, the clicks about finally understanding, and the daily epiphanies like Terminator Salvation, that the world loves to see. Much like watching a wrestling pay-per-view, or trying to sit around and push yourself to do a movie marathon, eating stuffed crust pizza, it's all the same little clicks that is very odd to see STILL??? This movie was amazing.
