Review of Tenet (2020) by Tonyyy — 06 Sep 2020
Being ambitioned comes at the cost of that you might fail. In this case, I feel, Nolan has failed. While I like the general concept, it doesn't work for me. You could make a movie that's hard to follow along - if the pictures are nice, it can work.
Or you could make a movie with poor cinematography and a great story - but in my opinion this film has neither of those. It is hard to follow, full of tropes. Military, machine gun, special agent, helicopter, yacht, beautiful woman, guy doing chin ups near the oilrig (that's a new one I guess) plutonium, end of tze world, nuvlear thread - no, just no.
We've seen these ingredients too many times, they're boring as hell. A movie has to be satisfying because you care about the characters, you can follow the story, you are curious about how it ends - this film doesn't check any of these boxes.
