Review of Tell No One (2006) by Tom B — 01 Apr 2010
Effective French thriller based on a Harlan Coben novel. All the elements of a bad Hollywood mystery film are present: a wrongly accused everyman, corrupt police, an evil politician. Yet all of these ingredients are rendered in calm, believable ways.
An American film based on the same material would focus on over-the-top action sequences and scenery chewing by the villains, but here the characters are the focus. "Tell No One" rises above its pulp origins and succeed at far more than just its central mystery.
