Review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016) by Carmen C — 04 Jul 2016
For a relatively newcomer fan such as myself, this movie is tremendously entertaining. I'm not a fan of the comics, or the super old tv series either. All I know is the relatively new tv adaptation, and this revamped movie saga.
And while I will admit I was a bit disappointed with the first film, with very little screen time devoted to the turtles, cringeworthy dialogue, and unbelievable scenes. I was pleasantly surprised with this new installment, as I believe they took the criticism and learned from it.
Turtles are the actual main characters this time, and actually developed and had time for me to get to know them, their beliefs, chemistry, etc. the new characters fit in well, adding a humorous note that the made it all the more captivating.
Many reviewers say it's aimed at pre-teen boys. Well I'm a 16 year old girl and I loved it dearly. The feel of the film can be compared to an avengers film, in that it's the perfect balance of action and humor.
Resounding win for me. Highly recommend.
