Review of Tears of the Sun (2003) by Praveen V — 06 Nov 2009
A deeply moving, disturbing and ultimately uplifting movie. The music is gorgeous, the scenery lush (filmed in Hawaii, I believe, NOT Nigeria) and several scenes haunting. I'd exercise caution in letting your younger friends see it (like 12 or under) due to strong language and some pretty awful things shown, briefly and not too graphically, but still there.
Ends with one of my favorite quotes (I may not have it word-for-word) "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." This movie shows good (but flawed) men doing something about the evil they see.
Their sacrifice was worth it.
