Review of Taxi Driver (1976) by Del H — 25 Oct 2013
Paul Schrader's nightmarish account of a man's descent into darkness as a result of his own alienation and askew morality is given significance by the genius camerawork of Martin Scorsese and the intense performance of Robert De Niro, who is all too believable in the central role.
With the collaboration of these three minds [Scorsese, Schrader, De Niro], the character of Travis is stapled as being one of the most complex and fascinating throughout the history of cinema. Overall, masterfully done in every sense of the word, a film of meaning and relevance in our increasingly violent world.
