Review of Taxi Driver (1976) by Religa — 04 Jun 2021
Taxi Driver is simply put, Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro at their best. It's literally one of the most powerful films world cinema has ever seen. Many great directors put this picture on their great film's list which is a testimony to its greatness. Only a few films moved me like this picture. And we got the beautiful Jodie Foster as a teen prostitute. Now many will argue that it was a little too far to cast a 12 year old as a hooker but for me it was crucial and Marty knew that.
Now it's funny when we think that Taxi Driver didn't win best picture. Now Rocky is a great film but it clearly is no match for Scorsese's masterpiece . It's even funnier when we think that Marty didn't even land a nomination for best director.Sometimes the Academy can be just a joke.
