Review of Taxi Driver (1976) by Ray S — 24 Aug 2017
Loneliness is a subject that has been explored in film, but not like this nor will it ever again. Robert De Niro creates a multi-layered performance where the audience tries to sympathize with a man driven deeply into madness by loneliness.
It's crafted in such a passionate way by both De Niro and Scorsese that it strikes a nerve with its brutal realism yet there are times when it has a fantastical feel to it, but it is just a feeling and it is special.
But what will leave an impression on you is the moody score and an ending that seals the fact that it is a masterpiece.
