Taxi Driver is one of the most influential movies that has ever been made. Upon viewing this film, it is very easy to see why this is one of the greats. Everything from the screenplay, to the acting, to the direction, to the cinematography, to the score hammers home a haunting tone of loneliness and isolation.
Travis Bickle lives completely detached from reality, and the world he inhabits feels more and more like a fever dream as the movie progresses. Martin Scorsese really hit it out of the park on this one, and I cannot recommend it enough.
This is easily one of the best films ever made.
