Review of Taxi Driver (1954) by Joel D — 25 May 2013
Considered to be one of the greatest films of all time, Taxi Driver is Scorsese at his best. Robert De Niro plays the role of an insomniac ex-Marine "taxi driver" in mid-'70s New York City who wishes for a "rain" to wash the scum off the streets.
De Niro masterfully plays the role and carries the film along its way. Taxi Driver is also backed by impressive performances by actors such as: Jodie Foster, Cybill Sheperd, Peter Boyle, and Albert Brooks.
Taxi Driver is as hard-hitting as it is thought provoking. With an emotionally rewarding ending Taxi Driver is a film easily to be considered a classic.
