Review of Taxi Driver (1954) by Jacob G — 18 Aug 2018
One of the movies that changed the way I looked at film. I was 16 when I first saw it. I'd Never seen anything like it before. After that I had a new favorite director & actor. As a young shy kid trying to figure out life, this film had quite an impact on me. It might not be everybody's cup of tea, but it's my cup of hot cocoa.
Deniro is a phenomenal actor and really made you believe he was a mentally unbalanced taxi cab driver. But even though he is not a Great person, you still identify with him, but understand he is bad news. "Scorsese" not much more to say than that. We have all Hailed at one point or another but this is the film I saw of his that really made my eyes pop. Before this I had only seen Kundun & Casino, Both great films in their own right, but in a completely different league.
I will always love this film. It will always have a special place in my heart.
Damn that was corny.
