Review of Taxi Driver (1954) by Rocknblues 8 — 23 Feb 2014
My favorite movie of all time. Taxi Driver is a gritty drama about a man losing his mind over the decay of New York in the 70's. It has one of the best performances of the last 40 years, and I find easier to relate to than ever because of the decline of America in the last decade or so. People seem to be losing a grip on common sense and common decency.
Not that I'm perfect. Like Bickle, there are probably some things about me where you could same I'm a hypocrite. But were all hypocrites sometimes. It's the human way I'm sad to say. The good news is that most of us don't snap like Bickle.
It's a very dark film that digs into the mindset of a very lonely person that can't some to relate to anyone he comes into contact with. Every attempt he makes, he fails miserably. The harder he does try, the more disastrous the results get, but it's a truly interesting thing to watch.
