Review of Take This Waltz (2011) by Johnny G — 24 Jan 2013
Is Michelle Williams never in a healthy or happy relationship in a movie? This is the fifth movie in a row where she's either divorced, left her husband, or been murdered by her husband. Regardless, she anchors the film with a performance rich with character and vulnerability.
Seth Rogen, too, is surprisingly great; for a less comedic role, he pulled it off incredibly well. The story itself isn't anything crazily original, but the way Take This Waltz is filmed and executed really makes it feel fresh, interesting, and easy on the eyes to boot.
I was not a large fan of how the ending panned out, but otherwise, this was a really well-acted drama very much deserving of any awards attention it got.
