Review of Take This Waltz (2011) by S M — 18 Apr 2013
This... was not great. But of course, critics WOULD love it.
*SPOILERS*.
First of all, Margot was obviously not "happily married" as the ads would make us believe. Lou loved her, and she loved him, but it wasn't enough for her, and that much is clear from the very first scene. Now, she eventually... pretty much leads Daniel to seduce her. Then she throws away her marriage over him. And that turns out doesn't make her happy either, because he can offer her what Lou was lacking, but he couldn't offer her everything else Lou did. So of course, by the time she crawls her way back to Lou, he won't have her.
And then the end frame is her on the ride by herself, all smiley. So she lost Lou over Daniel, then she realized she lost what was really worth it wen she lost Lou, so she breaks up with Daniel... and then she's happy?? No one that goes through all that is happy. I'm sorry. It needed to be argued better.
