Review of Synecdoche, New York (2008) by Nicholas T — 22 Feb 2010
An indefensibly noncommittal semblance of barely evocative images, characters, and scenarios that do not coalesce into any sort of notable experience. An attempt at truth that feels numbingly false and misguidedly constructed.
An abysmal disappointment that requires radically disproportionate intellectualizing merely to justify its existence. Charlie Kaufman seems to have no interest in playing to the strength of the medium he is working in.
