Review of Synecdoche, New York (2008) by Kerby H — 28 Sep 2012
If there is any justice in the world, in 20 years "Synecdoche, New York" will be remembered as one of the very few films in history that successfully presented a wholly original vision of what film as a medium can accomplish.
Think "2001: A Space Oddysey" or "Citizen Kane". Just like those films, Synecdoche, New York was met with extreme polarization by critics and audiences when it was released, no doubt because of it's frustrating and single-minded ambition to do nothing less than represent the whole of human life in one 2-hour film.
It remains to be seen if this opinion will slowly evolve to recognize this film as the masterpiece it truly is.
