Review of Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) by Jason C — 08 Sep 2010
The lead character (not the title character) is such an idiot that I found myself angry at him and the film as I was watching. So many times I found myself asking why would he do this or why wouldn't he do this.
Finally I gave up and just tried to enjoy the visceral experience the film offered. On this level it mostly succeeds. Enough at least to make me interested in seeing some more of Chan-wook Park's films, of which this was my first.
