Review of Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) by Larry G — 26 Jul 2017
The first of the "vengence trilogy" (none of the movies are related other than by a common theme) is an exploration of who is good, who is bad in a vengence story, how far one should go, how inventive one can be in torture and murder, etc.
There is a strong social commentary on who is forgotten, what is social justice, what means one should use to achieve it.
Like other Park Chan Wook movies, there are many layers to go through and to think about even after it is all over.
