Review of Swordfish (2001) by Mudit C — 28 Dec 2010
-Ironic one of the opening lines of the movie is "You know what the problem with Hollywood is? They make shit.".
-Most pointless topless scene ever. I will say that Halle has never looked hotter in her life than in the scene where she points the gun at Hugh. And that's a massive compliment because people that know me know I don't really find her attractive at all.
-John Travolta usually plays a fantastic villain (see The Taking of Phelmam whateverthenumberis) but not in this movie. In this he's just mediocre at best.
-Hugh Jackman is skinny (especially after watching Wolverine).
-Even in bit-part roles Vinnie Jones is usually badass. Not in this one.
-The 'hacking' scenes, mainly the "worm-creating scene", are just awful.
-Terrible father-daughter back story.
-Travolta's character said something about Houdini using misdirection to "pull-one-over" on the audience. I feel this movies does the same thing, but I don't know that it's effective in the least. In fact, I feel had.
-I find it incredibly ironic that while I'm writing this I'm listening to Trevor Rabin's Gone In 60 Seconds soundtrack, also directed by Sena (which I never knew until now).
