Review of Swing Girls (2004) by Sarah K — 15 Dec 2007
I love everything about this film. The struggles of these self centred obnoxious high school girls cracks me up, and I like that Shinobu didn't caricature them to become totally annoying or idiotic.
As childish as they are, they are also empathetic and determined, and that's why their journey is so enjoyable to witness. There are some random sequences thrown in which really add nothing to the film but are nevertheless hilarious and the music is so heartwarming at the end.
It was such a thrilling and satisfying climax and I never tire of it. Ah, I just love it, love it love it. Now somebody please change the poster, the movie's Japanese dammit!
