Review of Swing Girls (2004) by Cory P — 16 Aug 2009
This is the best comedy I've seen since Napolean Dynamite. Which I think actually came out in the same year. I'm very picky about my comedy. I don't like them too brainless, cheesy, raunchy or extreme.
This one hit all the right notes. In comedies, timing and delivery is so important and in this movie it was perfect. Like others have said, this movie doesn't try or pretend to be anything that it's not and ultimately that's what makes it so good.
The script is quite simple, THERE ARE NO LOVE TRIANGLES (which I really hate), and there are no "heinous villains" which really comes off quite lame in most other comedies.
