Excellent film, starring the redoubtable Geraldine Page in a magnificent performance as aging film star Alexandra Del Lago. Paul Newman is sexy as Chance Wayne haunted by demons of his past. Ed Begley is excellent as the corrupt politician (and won the Oscar).
Film is toned down from the actual play to please the censors but overall the film is very well done. Richard Brooks handsomely directs the film. Not as good as Sweet Bird of Youth or Cat On a Hot Tin Roof, but worthy nonetheless.
