Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007) ???

Johnny Depp gives one of his finest performances in this surprisingly successful filmization of legendary musical by Hugh Wheeler, and while the results may not be as solid as the play (why carp?), it's a powerful story of stark barber who gets revenge on those who had done him wrong by returning to his job and cutting their throats. Bloody-extremely bloody-but gripping and surprisingly good-natured, and remains one of Tim Burton's very best films. The bleak Art Direction won an Academy Award.
