Review of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (1982) by Duncan R — 25 Feb 2008
The cast in this production was far too campy, the woman playing Joanna had a nauseating singing voice, and I'm not terribly fond of Toby being played by a 35 year old dwarf. That may have knocked one star off my overall rating, but it doesn't prevent Stephen Sondheim's masterpiece from being any less of a joy to watch.
