Now THIS is the real version! George Hearn is incredible, and Angela Lansbury is . . . well, Angela Lansbury. You get Stephen Sondheim's score in all its glory; "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd" was noticeably absent in Tim Burton's movie.
Yes, it's dark, but there is definitely dark humor as well. In short, it's preferable to Tim Burton's movie.
