Review of Suspiria (1977) by Jonathan A — 03 Dec 2010
American dancer studying abroad uncovers a deadly secret within her school that puts her life at risk. Truly one of the most frightening films I've ever seen (fans of "Juno" will recall Ellen Paige's character's little rant of praise for this one)! Very heavy on atmosphere, which is slightly to it's detriment as the film is intrinsically a case of style over substance where the story is nothing new, in reality.
But boy does the production work! Creepy score, eerie color photography, Gothic production design. I don't scare easily, and this film gave me nightmares. A must for horror fans.
