Review of Suspiria (1977) by Jon D — 25 Sep 2018
The only redeemable qualities about this film are the cinematography and the use of color.
The acting is horrendous. Possibly the most horrifying thing about the film.
The script is garbage.
The score is extremely loud and frustratingly annoying. Some guy breathing heavily on top of eardrum-bursting synth is not scary or disturbing.
The plot is nonexistent aside from 'dance school' and 'coven of witches'. On top of that, we get a dull exposition scene that attempts to lend depth to the story and succeeds only in being uninteresting.
Without the brilliant colors and great camerawork, Suspiria is a typical and cliche horror film with a bad script and sub-par performances.
Hoping the remake will be better.
