Review of Suspicion (1941) by Greg D — 20 Feb 2008
A wickedly delicious mystery story. Bautifully acted. Joan Fontaine is tragically beautful and classy, and Cary Grant is dastardly and charming. I think what I was most unprepared for was their dead on sexual chemistry. A couple scenes are down right hot! But they manage to be so without any flesh whatsoever. I's the way she sighs when he touches he, and the glint in his eye when he says 'have you everbeen kissed in a moving car?'.
Then of course there's the crazy ride it takes you on. Can we trust Johnny? Or is he secretly evil?
Mix this together with some gorgeous subtext and dry British wit, and what you have is nothing short of a masterpiece.
