Review of Survival of the Dead (2010) by Tom R — 25 Aug 2010
I saw this movie at a time when I was sick of zombies and vampires, so what surprised me is that I mostly liked it. It doesn't have the prestige of Romero's Dawn, Day, or Land of the Dead, but Survival of the Dead is watchable.
It doesn't feel like an "EXTREME" cheap zombie movie where gore is put above the story. I didn't entirely understand Romero's satire in Survival; maybe it was Republicans VS Democrats or maybe it was just an undead retelling of the Hatfields and McCoys.
Survival of the Dead could have been better considering the legendary director, but even if you're simply looking for a gory zombie movie, you'll get plenty of it in the climax. I give it a mild recommendation.
