Review of Surveillance (2008) by Aidan H — 04 Dec 2009
A stylish highway to hell with Pullman and Ormond as two G-Persons interviewing the victims of a roadside crime. Nothing seems clear until halfway in when the fun starts but I'm not sure the lead-up gave me much compunction to stay the course as the narrative is lightweight (despite the gore) and the characters either throwaways (Dakota Fanning clone, disposable old lady, slut etc.
) or too weird to comprehend. With some plausible acting and fewer nods to the old man, Lynch jnr. could have had a vicious, Badlands-style killer on the road-type gem on her hands. Instead, this fumbles along splashing nastiness and claret without gripping the imagination.
Worth a watch, though.
