Review of Surveillance (2008) by Matt D — 23 Apr 2011
I didn't really like this movie...it felt really pointless and like it was trying too hard to be profound and unique, but failed because the horror/thriller doesn't really allow for anything incredibly new. it had an interesting twist at.
The end, but that's the only thing going for it. getting to the end was just a little too slow-boil for my taste.
Most of the movie is spent watching flashbacks on a highway road where cops get to abuse their power and be huge assholes. if anything, the entire point of this movie is that police officers aren't nice people. it's almost as if jennifer lynch had one rotten run in with a police officer and decided to dedicate an entire movie to her bitterness.
On the plus side, a few of the performances were fun to watch. bill pullman and julia ormand both did a great job and they had a lot of chemistry together. and the masks that the killers wore were pertty cool. they woulda scared me if I saw em in real life. hooray for props.
