Review of Supernova (2021) by Glomman — 13 Jun 2022
This is some of the heaviest stuff I've watched so far this year. Sam and Tusker - the protagonist couple - just have this brilliant dynamic and the whole movie turns from a fun field trip into a melancholic drama. I never really tear up while watching films, but I was bloody close during the last 20 or so minutes. It's only 90 minutes long, but it felt like 3 hours, I don't know whether that was a good or a bad thing, maybe I just wanted to escape this carnage mentally, but also felt tied to the screen at the same time. The characters just feel so real, when Tusker throws a party for him and Sam, everything involved just feels as if someone had filmed a - surely tragic - gathering and Tusker and Sam can just be who they are, an old couple with its regular problems, no corny dialogue needed.
If you're in a good mood and want to change this, I definitely recommend watching this.
